Delhi-NCR ranks 21st in shopping centre development
Delhi-NCR ranks 21st in the global list of cities with the maximum shopping centre space under construction in 2014, according to property consultant CBRE. India continues to see a wave of new shopping mall development despite some developers pushing back completion dates due to financing issues, CBRE said in a statement.
"New Delhi is ranked 21, Hyderabad 23, and Bangalore 31, among global cities with the maximum shopping centre space under construction in 2014," the consultant said quoting from CBRE Research's latest report 'Global Viewpoint'.
It said 39 million sq m etre of shopping space is under construction across world's major cities and out of that India accounts for nearly 1.5 million sq metre. Around 5,00,000 sq metre of new retail space is under construction in New Delhi. The largest two projects, DLF Mall of India at Noida (204,385 sq metre) and Logix City Centre Mall (1,11,483 sq metre) are both located in Noida.

key features of interim budget
Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram presented the Vote on Account on 17 February 2014 in the Lok Sabha to cover expenditure until the government’s term ends in May 2014. Following are the key highlights of this Interim Budget or Finance Bill for 2014.
Key Objectives and Indicators
· Fiscal deficit of FY 2013-14 to be contained at 4.6%
· Rs. 5,55,322 crore Planned expenditure for FY 2013-14
· Proposed target of 3% for fiscal deficit by 2016
· Proposed target of 3% for fiscal deficit by 2016-17
· GDP fell to 4.4% from 7.9% in nine quarters
· GDP growth in Q3, Q4 (Fourth Quarter) FY 2014 seen at 5.2%; FY 2014: 4.9%
· FY 2015’s non-planned expenditure estimated at Rs 12.07 lakh crore
· Agriculture GDP growth for 2013-14 estimated at 4.6%
· FY 2014 GDP growth seen at 4.9%
· FY 2015 central assistance to sates at Rs 3.38 lakh crore (Central assistance to states will increase from 1.36 lakh crore in 2013-14 to 3.38 lakh crore)
· Even after the slowdown the savings rate was 31% in FY 2012-13

· 100 crore for community radio, Rs. 1200 cr additional assistance to NE, Himchal, Uttarakhand
· IFCI will set up VC fund for scheduled caste. Initial capital of Rs. 200 crore will be given
· Moratorium for all educational loans taken before 2009. 9 lakh student borrowers will benefit to the extent of Rs. 2,600 crore

President Abdelaziz Bouteflika Dominates Algerian Politics
Algeria's President Abdelaziz Bouteflika is among six candidates vying to become the next leader of the oil-rich North African nation, as voters cast ballots in Thursday's presidential election.
The 77-year-old president is widely expected to win a fourth term, in spite of health issues that prevented him from campaigning.
Mr. Bouteflika has made few public appearances since suffering a stroke last year. He cast his ballot Thursday from a wheelchair at an Algiers polling station.
In 2009, he captured about 90 percent of the vote.

Global software major Microsoft is the 'most attractive employer' in India, while IT, telecom and ITes are the most preferred sectors by the workforce, a survey by HR services firm Randstad said today.

Transgender people in India no longer have to categorize themselves as “male” or “female” in official documents.
India’s Supreme Court issued a landmark ruling Tuesday that allows hundreds of thousands of transgender people to identify themselves as a third gender. Human rights groups are lauding the decision as historic and groundbreaking.

Wilson Kipsang Wins His 2nd London Marathon
World-record holder Wilson Kipsang won the London Marathon for the second time on Sunday, producing a course-record time to see off a strong field despite arriving late in the British capital after his passport was stolen.
The 32-year-old Kenyan completed the 26.2-mile route in 2 hours, 4 minutes, 29 seconds -- 11 seconds inside the previous fastest run in London by Emmanuel Mutai in 2011.

Doyen of cinematography V.K. Murthy, who carved a niche for himself by presenting striking images in black and white to the celluloid world, passed away at his residence here on Monday.
